Our History
Alger Park Church was founded in 1952 as an offshoot of the Burton Heights and Seymour Christian Reformed churches, at a time when the neighborhood around Walsh Street and Eastern Ave still had more vacant lots than houses. From that beginning, Alger Park has grown along with the neighborhood, continuing to worship Christ and serve our community.
Vision Statement
To live out our calling to follow Christ in our worship, the way we engage one another in community, in our discipleship of all believers, and in our servant leadership model.
Our Mission
Together we engage in worship, acts of service, generosity, environmental stewardship, community building, mentoring, and education. We are privileged to work with God in the Alger Heights/Garfield Park neighborhoods, in all the places we live and work, and around the world. We are a member church of the Christian Reformed denomination. You can learn more about the Christian Reformed Church here.
