What is Alger Park like?

Alger Park Church is a community called together around the gospel of Jesus Christ.  We are made up of all kinds of people - lifelong Christ-followers, new believers, and some who are simply curious to learn more. Together we engage in worship, acts of service, generosity, environmental stewardship, community building, mentoring, and education.

What are worship services like?

We have one worship service each Sunday, at 9:30 A.M. Our hope is that Alger Park’s worship is hospitable: first and foremost to God, secondly to visitors, and third to our believing members. We want our worship to be provocative and motivate us to do and be something more.  Our services are liturgical, engaging, and personable. We value preaching, liturgy, and music that is biblically rooted, thoughtful, and relevant. We work to involve a variety of instruments, traditions, and styles in our services.

What should I wear?

Some people come dressed formally, others wear more casual clothes.

What will my children do during the service?

There is nursery provided for all worship services for Infants-two year olds.  Three and four year olds are dropped off at Little Lambs before the morning service (members of our hospitality team, who will greet you at the door, will direct you where to go). Five and six year olds begin worshipping with the adults and are later dismissed to participate in Children’s Worship.
During the summer (June-August) we have SonShine Club for three year olds-Kindergartners.  They sit in the service with their families until the offering and then leave for their special program.  Pick up is immediately following the worship service.

Where should I park?

Our parking lot is behind our building on Walsh Street. Additional parking is permitted on the side streets around the church building.

What does it mean to become a member of Alger Park?

In most organizations and clubs, becoming a member means becoming a more elite kind of consumer - not so in the church!  Membership in the church is an initiation into greater service and self-sacrifice.  Membership at Alger Park is for growing Christians who are committed to serve and be served in our community.  It is for those who wish to take Christ’s mission on as their own.  Committing to this kind of lifestyle is a significant step for Christ followers.

With that said, no one should feel undue pressure to join Alger Park. Some of the most important people in our church community are those who are still discovering what they believe and how they fit in with us. Everyone will always be welcome at Alger Park.  But, for those who are ready to contribute to the mission with us, we hope you’ll consider membership.

Who should I talk to about membership?

Please call or email one of our pastors to begin the membership process. They are very glad to answer any questions.
